Environmental Product Declaration
Brief Description
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) constitutes the most comprehensive assessment of a product’s environmental impacts occurring throughout its entire life cycle. It provides transparent, comparable, and verified information regarding the product’s environmental footprint, from the extraction of its raw materials to its final disposal, in accordance with international standards ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
Their verification by independent bodies makes EPDs one of the most reliable sources regarding the sustainability and environmental friendliness of products. For this reason, they serve as useful tools for designers, builders, and the end-users of structures. They are also integrated into environmental certification systems, thus offering a competitive advantage in the construction industry, which is highly focused on green building.
What are the benefits of developing and verifying an EPD?
XALKIS holds an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for all of its products (clay bricks and roof tiles), published in the global EPD programme – International EPD System, ensuring public access to information regarding the company’s environmental responsibility.
